The Story Behind Wahoo Woodworks & More LLC

Founder, Scott Carboni, started his career at 18 with Boscov’s Department Stores, building custom retail store fixtures in Reading, PA. Scott learned not only cabinet making, but also how to produce fixtures with plexiglass. After a year, 1982, Scott began his continued education at Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown, PA, at night, studying architectural drafting and was then promoted into the Boscov’s store planning department drawing custom store fixtures to be produced by Boscov’s and outside fixture companies.

Scott went on to learn visual merchandising in the stores to develop his skills merchandising fixtures for full presentation. This also served the purpose of learning how retail stores flow and how customers shop. After 4 years Scott transferred back to the store planning department as a store planner. During these years, Scott moonlighted drafting custom homes for a local builder, completing more than 250 custom built homes.

Scott stopped moonlighting when he was promoted to store planning manager responsible for leading the design team. During this time, Scott also started teaching store planners to be construction project managers in the field to assist the VP Director of Store Planning, Construction, Visual Merchandising & Maintenance.

Scott moved to Atlanta, GA. starting his own company, Carboni Design Group and found a niche engineering convention show booths for various clients in Atlanta. Since 2001 Scott has worked for companies such as EXPO Design Centers, Home Depot and Creative Touch Interiors. In 2010, Scott was hired by JLL as Sr. Project Manager and VP Program Manager for various well known national clients in the retail industry.

Since 1981, Scott has continually and successfully worked for his neighbors and friends designing custom homes, designing and building custom cabinetry, painting interiors, installing all types of flooring, except for ceramic tile, installing wainscotting/trim work and hanging window treatments, pictures and TV brackets on nights and weekends. In 2024 Scott decided to put the corporate world behind him and start up Wahoo Woodworks & More, LLC offering his talent to our local area of Lakewood Ranch, Manatee & Sarasota Counties.
